The Adirondack Great Camps, found amongst ancient forests and shining mountain lakes, were lavish retreats for the wealthy and their friends where they lived and entertained in the gracious style of The Great Camp era.

Foxstand was built in the early 1900's on 124 acres by Marcus Munzell, a stockbroker form Bronxville, New York. As a boy, he had visited the area and shot his very first fox there. In honor of the occasion, he named his estate grand Foxstand.
A series of owners followed, each leaving their mark with unique additions and renovations in keeping with the orginal Adirondack style. However, by the time Sandy Rowse, current owner, purchased the estate in 2000, much of the buildings and grounds were in need of repair and updating.
Sandy envisioned revitalizing the estate to become a retreat for those who preferred a pastoral, private setting for their special events.
She has lovingly restored the many historic Adirondack elements of the buildings, carefully expanded the magnificent lake and mountain views all the way to Vermont, and updated the beautifully appointed guest rooms.
